Importing Contacts
Import contacts from CSV, map each column to the right field, review the preview, and start the import.
Use the contact import flow when you need to add many records at once instead of creating them individually. In Leadpush, importing contacts starts from the Contacts screen and then moves into a two-step setup wizard where you map columns and review the preview before the import is processed.
Before you start
- Confirm you are in the correct workspace. Imports are workspace-specific.
- Make sure your Identity setting is correct before you import.
- Create any missing destination fields in Workspaces -> Data -> Fields if your CSV contains custom attributes.
- Prepare a CSV file smaller than
10MB. - Decide whether the first row contains column headers.
- Decide whether the import should also set contact subscription status.
Start a new contact import
Open Contacts
Go to Contacts from the workspace sidebar.
Open the import menu
Click the dropdown beside New Contact.
Choose Import CSV
Select Import CSV to open the import form.
Name the import
Give the import a clear name so it is easy to recognize later in import history.
Upload the file
Select the CSV file you want to import.
Configure import settings
Choose the settings for this import:
- Has Header if the first row contains column names
- Set Subscription Status if the import should subscribe or unsubscribe the imported contacts
Create the import
Click Create to move into the mapping wizard.
Map CSV columns to contact fields
After the import record is created, Leadpush opens the Column Mappings step.
For each detected column, the wizard shows:
- the column name
- a preview value
- an Include toggle
- a Maps To field selector when the column is included
Use this step to control exactly which columns should be imported and where their values should be stored.
Review each detected column
Check the column name and preview value to confirm Leadpush is reading the file correctly.
Choose which columns to include
Turn Include on only for the columns you want to import.
Map each included column
Use Maps To to select the matching reserved contact field or custom workspace field.
Create a field if needed
If the correct destination field does not exist yet, click Create Field from the mapping step, create it, and then return to the mapping list.
Continue to review
Click Next after the required mappings are configured.
Review the import preview
The second step is Review Import.
This screen shows preview totals for:
- Total Contacts
- Total Created
- Total Updated
- Total Errors
Use this preview to catch mapping mistakes before the import starts.
Review the totals
Check that the created, updated, and error counts look reasonable for this file.
Go back if needed
Use Previous if a mapping needs to be changed.
Start the import
Click Import when the preview matches your expectations.
After the import starts
Once you submit the review step, Leadpush begins processing the import. The import record remains available in import history so your team can review the result later.
Use Workspaces -> Data -> Imports when you need to:
- review recent import records
- check import status
- search for an older import by name
- delete an import record from history
Best practices
- Use descriptive import names so teammates can identify the right record later.
- Create custom fields before importing large files whenever possible.
- Keep CSV columns consistent across recurring imports so mapping stays predictable.
- Review preview totals before clicking Import, especially when the import updates existing contacts.
- Use the subscription setting carefully because it changes recipient eligibility as part of the import.
